Currently, your practice staff can identify patients by using their first name, last name, date of birth, or last four digits of their social security number. On January 1, your practice can start using the new Member ID to identify your VSP patients and incorporating the number into the patient authorization process as a privacy-sensitive option. If a patient asks where they can find their new Member ID, tell them they can log in to their vsp.com account as they normally would and navigate to their Member ID card.
